The Livingston Symphony Orchestra (LSO)
was founded for the purpose of serving the community, providing culture
and music,
supporting the arts, and providing an opportunity for musicians to
play. We encourage
musicians and particularly string players to join us.
The Livingston Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is a
young orchestra that has developed rapidly since its beginning in
1994. As a small
orchestra, it was formed by Ray Lund, Eva Byrd and Tracy Beauregard as
a way of establishing music and cultural events in Livingston County,
Michigan. Building from its humble beginnings, the orchestra has
now doubled in size and increased in outreach. Created to provide
cultural enrichment for Livingston County residents in a local venue,
the orchestra offers
residents the opportunity of viewing musical performances-ranging from
classical to contemporary to pops-in their own hometowns. The
idea developed to the point
that the orchestra will now venture to visit other communities and
carry the sounds beyond their home community.
Fulfilling a needed function in providing a
place for trained musicians to continue their playing as adults and to
stay active as musicians,
the orchestra allows for continual upgrading of their musical skills
and the encouragement of their fellow musicians while encouraging the
musical community and the audiences for whom they perform. The
orchestra also hopes to
foster a sense of pride and appreciation of culture and the arts-with
an emphasis on classical music-for young people in their audiences.
