The Livingston Symphony Orchestra is a growing and thriving community-based 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. The introduction of the Livingston Youth Orchestra in 2015  further extends our reach into the community. Our mission is to provide local musicians an opportunity to develop and enhance their skills, and to foster a love of music in the young people in our community.

To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, download the LSO Sponsor Guide.

To sponsor LSO, simply download the LSO Sponsor Form and return it to us using the options listed on the form. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) to fill out our interactive sponsor form.

We have the following great ways to help support our orchestra:

  1. Purchase a program advertisement, memorial or message slot in the concert program. Different sizes are available for a range of prices: $25 for a business card space to $200 for a full page.
  2. Sponsor a concert. Your business is featured on our concert program cover, includes a half-page program advertisement, and is listed as a sponsor on our website. Fall and winter concerts are $400 each and the combined LSO/LYO holiday and spring concerts are $500 each.
  3. Sponsor a chair in the orchestra (for example: The B Square Brewery Scholarship Chair)–this is available for a $400 donation.
  4. Sponsor a piece of music. Your name, business name or personal message will appear in the program beneath piece you’ve sponsored.

Students should prepare:

  • 2 scales representative of their ability
  • A piece of their choice no longer than five minutes in length.
  • To sightread a short excerpt selected by the conductor.

Private lessons are recommended, as this greatly benefits the student’s musical development.

Auditions are required for both new students and once a year for all returning students.

Participation in School Music Programs

LYO strongly encourages all students to participate in their own school music program and ensembles. Being a member of LYO is not intended to replace school programs but rather enhance and augment a young musician’s music education by providing additional performance opportunities of challenging repertoire with professional conductors and instructors.
